Q: Why did you decide to participate in the summer research program?
A: I previously completed independent lab research for credit during two semesters. I enjoyed working independently and wanted to continue doing research for the chemistry department. I also needed a payid position to help pay for school.
Q: How has the summer research program helped you in your education, laboratory skills, etc.?
A: In lab courses, I am able to use my intuition to complete experiments. In addition, I understand most lab protocols faster.
Q: What do you like or dislike about the summer research program?
A: I like working independently with only one other person. The research is very exciting too because of its wide applications to genomics and clinical medicine.
Q: Would you recommend this program to other students? Why or why not?
A: I would definately recommend the program to other students. Applying knowledge we learn in science classes by doing research is very satisfying. It also allows students to become very comfortable in the lab.
